March 6
Luke 9:38, 42-43 – Just then a man from the crowd shouted, “Teacher, I beg you to look at my son; he is my only child.” While he was coming, the demon dashed [the son] to the ground in convulsions. But Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, healed the boy, and gave him back to his father. And all were astounded at the greatness of God.
From this mountaintop experience of the Transfiguration which has Peter asking to stay, I imagine Jesus saying, “We can’t stay. There is too much work to do.” And what is the first thing Jesus does at the bottom of the mountain? Jesus heals a child.
Prayer Steadfast God, guide us in our work so we might be healing presences to those around us. AMEN.
