1 Corinthians 10:1-4 – I do not want you to be unaware, brothers and sisters, that our ancestors were all under the cloud, and all passed through the sea, and all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, and all ate the same spiritual food, and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank from the spiritual rock that followed them, and the rock was Christ.
Paul, writing to the Corinthians about the Exodus, goes on to remind them about the terrible things that befell the Israelites with whom God was not pleased (v5). For me, this passage is a reminder that while we might read similar scriptures, our interpretations and resulting actions can be vastly different. We need to be gentle with one another remembering that God’s thoughts are not our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8).

Gracious God, help me love and support my neighbor as you would desire. AMEN.
