Good Friday, April 2
Luke 23:33-34 – When they came to the place that is called The Skull, they crucified Jesus there with the criminals, one on his right and one on his left. Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.” And they cast lots to divide his clothing.
Our journey ends today at the foot of the cross even though we know the story is just beginning. We have been seeking clarity of God’s intention for us, so it is appropriate to end our journey with Christ’s words of piercing clarity on the cross. To the men who whipped him, to the men who nailed him to the cross, to the multitudes who laid their coats down on Sunday just to turn their backs on Friday, Jesus said, “Father, forgive them.”
Prayer Forgiving God, my shortcomings are many, but you remain steadfast in your love for me. Using Christ Jesus as my example, may you continue your tireless work in me so that I might become the servant you desire. AMEN.
