Protect vulnerable children from deadly Ebola

Uganda has declared an Ebola outbreak. Children with disabilities are especially vulnerable – weakened immune systems and nutrition deficits make them especially susceptible to illness. Ebola is not something they’re likely to survive.

Healthcare workers don't have the supplies or equipment they need to protect children from this deadly disease. You can help protect these vulnerable children today. Your gift will provide vital supplies like gloves and masks, as well as screening equipment and Ebola-prevention materials, so our frontline team can protect each child under our care.

You can make sure children continue to get vital medical care in the middle of this outbreak. You can protect them from Ebola today.

SITUATION REPORT

  • Uganda is experiencing an outbreak of Bundibugyo virus disease (BVD) – a rare strain of Ebola.
  • The country was declared high risk in May 2026.
  • There is no approved treatment or vaccine against this strain of Ebola.
  • Ebola is transmitted through bodily fluids, including saliva, sweat, and vomit.
  • Experts from the World Health Organization fear there is a much larger outbreak than is currently being detected or reported, based on a number of factors – conflict and unsafe burial practices in Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and population mobility between DRC and Uganda.

Your gift today will protect the most vulnerable children from Ebola.

"As healthcare workers, we have seen how quickly fear and misinformation can spread during an Ebola outbreak. We have also seen the difference that preparedness makes... Our goal is simple: to keep our patients, staff, and communities safe. I know that when we act early and work together, we will save lives.”

– Dr. Moses Fisha Muhumuza, Medical Director at Hope and Healing's partner hospital in Uganda
