Jenipher is at school again – all thanks to you!
The day had finally come.
After months of recovering, Jenipher was ready for what she had been patiently waiting for.
This bright, young girl was finally able to return to school!
For over a year, Jenipher had to miss out on school because she couldn’t get there on her own.
Jenipher’s mom noticed her knock knees when Jenipher was 3 years old. Her mom told us, “When she was walking, she was having difficulty. I felt bad. I thought Jenipher fell down or something hurt her foot.”
It was painful for her to walk, let alone play with friends. “I felt pain. I cried. Even playing was hard because I was falling a lot,” Jenipher told us.
Thankfully, a family in the community told Jenipher’s mom about our partner hospital, where a kind healinghugs supporter like you gave her the surgeries she needed – and a cuddly bear to hug.
Jenipher had to stay home from school for over a year while her knees healed. She just didn’t have the strength yet for the 30-minute walk.
While she waited, there was one thing on her mind – returning to school. She could hardly wait to get back to learning with her classmates!

Jenipher’s family encouraged her love of learning and bright mind in the meantime. Her mom and grandma taught Jenipher to spell her name, and even to count to 100 – which she proudly demonstrated for us.
This smart girl was definitely ready for class.
And when the start of the new school year finally arrived, Jenipher was off to school with the crutches her healinghugs team gave her to help her on the long walk.
If not for the love and care from a kind Canadian like you, Jenipher would have missed out on the chance to learn at school… to play with friends… to become all God wants her to be.
