The situation on the ground in Zambia is desperate:
- 6.6 million people have no food security
- Over 3 million children are impacted by the drought
- Approximately 1 million children are suffering from stunting due to chronic or recurrent undernutrition
- The Russia/Ukraine conflict is exacerbating food shortages and inflation, making food impossible to secure for the poorest families

National Disaster: Drought
This is the worst drought Zambia has experienced in over 40 years. It’s affected over 70% of the country and destroyed over 1 million hectares of land. Families don’t have access to food and children are severely malnourished. As water sources dried up, water that was once clean has become polluted and dangerous. Children are suffering acute diarrhea. Without clean water and food, children are dying.
