If you met Wilson when we did, his smile would have made your day. But the way he winced with each step would have broken your heart.
Wilson was born with clubfoot – a painful condition that causes his feet to slowly turn inward until he is walking on the sides of his feet. Each step is painful, and too often, he’s left behind or ignored as other kids run ahead.
Wilson’s mom, Dinah, was born with clubfoot as well. She never received treatment and so assumed there was nothing to be done for her son’s twisted feet.
The truth is, even if they could find treatment, she and her husband could never afford it. As farmers, they didn’t have money to pay for an expensive surgery.
Then someone told her about Hope and Healing International’s partner hospital and that Wilson’s treatment was covered by generous supporters like you.
Her son received serial casting right away to make sure his feet were pliable enough for surgery. Dinah eagerly watched as each cast was removed from Wilson’s feet and replaced with another. Bit by bit, the ligaments in her son’s feet loosened.
Then the day came for surgery and it was a success! Wilson’s feet were straightened, and he started physiotherapy to strengthen his muscles and help him walk pain-free!
Dinah said, “I have received the best services. The doctors are good, and nurses are caring and everyone here as well. Thank you for making this surgery possible.”
A month later, Wilson came back to the hospital and his mom excitedly watched doctors remove his final casts.
